Week 5 – Give More, Get More

Have you ever really looked at that statement?
Have you ever pondered the words and their meanings?

Well, guess what kept coming up in my head this week during sits, and at random times throughout the day, that’s right: “Give More, Get More.”

So what do I do, I turn to the Dictionary and look up Give and Get.

GIVE:  perform, contribute, donate, produce, utter, yield to force, surrender, let out of one’s control, cease from trying.

GET: gain, be in possession of, succeed in coming or going, become, be subjected to, understand.

How many ways do we use these two words in different ways in the English language?

At my day job, we have a black Labrador dog named Bailey.  She is about 1-1/2 years old and full of spunk – all the time!   In training her to be obedient to commands, we always use the word GIVE instead of LET GO (surrender whatever you have in your mouth)

Then there is GIVE used in the context of Give away.  Donate an item, Give money to a cause. (Donate and Contribute)

How about GIVE when you are trying to pry open a canning jar lid and it won’t GIVE or budge or open, until it finally does GIVE? (Yield to Force)

Then there is the wrestling match or tickle fight and someone exclaims “I GIVE” (surrender).

And finally, just giving of your time to practice and repeat to develop a habit.  There is the constant repetition that over time something just GIVES from within you.  A connection is made (What Give’s?)

and then you GET IT!!! (The dog get’s the treat, the jar opens, the tickle fight stops, the “Light Bulb Moment” happens!

2015 – Week 1 – Do Overs

Can we say do-over?

How many times in your lifetime do you get the opportunity for a do-over?  Anyone?

Well, here I am, exactly 2 years later with my do-over of this most amazing time of self-discovery I have ever experienced in my life.  The Master Keys Mastermind Experience, also known as MKMMA.

I had taken a year off from the craziness of all of the class requirements and must confess that I have honestly missed the assignments and the commitments involved.   Somehow I feel I may have been short-changing myself, or is it perhaps I have just been embracing the true me and more and more of the cement is cracking and falling off and the gold is appearing?

This will not make sense to most of you who are reading this for the first time, but that’s okay.  It makes sense to me and it will provide some interesting reading for my classmates (alliance members)

I thought it would be fun to reference a little trip down memory lane and give you a glimpse of my very first attempt at blogging.  Here is the link to my first blog post.  https://michellemasterkey.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/week-1-unexplored-territory/

Did I ever think in my lifetime that I would become a type of creative writer?  Not really.  That is one of the oddest things in taking the past year away from this class and connecting with the most amazing people.  I found myself numerous times over the past year putting my thoughts on paper or writing a blog post, but not publicly posting.  I have discovered it is quite liberating to keep this journal through this time of my life and download my thoughts.  I don’t want to be selfish, I want to share, expose the true me, and who knows, someone out there may actually find benefit from reading my attempts at creative writing.

Okay, so 2015 MKMMA Week 1 is in the books, requirements completed.  I can check that off my mental list, but it’s just a beginning.  Hold on for more fun, insight, depth and hopefully wisdom.

Thanks for reading!  Please comment below if you wish!

Week 22 – Comfort Zones

Hello Fellow MKMMA members! – oh, yes, and everyone else too.

The past couple of weeks our class discussion as been about the comfort zone and breaking free of it, so I find it appropriate to share with you a poem I have known about for several years with an appropriate title – My Comfort Zone!

comfort zone

My Comfort Zone

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn’t fail.
The same four walls and busywork were really more like jail.
I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much.
I said I didn’t care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.
If you’re in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

And here is another one that get’s to the point of what we are learning!

Get Out of the Comfort Zone

by George Cuff

I tried to walk with God by faith
Knowing this life was not my own,
But testing would come and make me face
The security of my comfort zone.

“I’ll live for you both day and night;
I’ll serve you in the way;”
But trials would come, push back the light
And I would go astray.

I would read about heroes of the faith
Who walked their earthly life
With grace reflecting on their face
God’s power for the fight.

I would say anew, “I’ll be like that;
My resolve I will hone.”
But when opposition blew away my peace,
I flew to my comfort zone.

I’d say to myself in a moment of joy,
“This is it. I will be strong.”
But trickery would show a brand new ploy
And all my peace was gone.

I struggled alone with pain and fear,
No relief could I find.
There was no solution, no way to clear
These fears of every kind.

Then one day, on went the light–
The truth came shining through.
His Word flooded my soul so bright,
I knew what I had to do.

I knelt in prayer and said to God,
“I’ll trust you and obey.”
I felt His assurance so sweet and strong,
His peace had come to stay.

“What about you, dear friend of mine?
Are you lethargic, dull, and alone?
Do you sense that now is the time
To get out of your comfort zone?”

Could it be that God is calling you
To adventure and paths unknown?
But you’re frozen in fear, still afraid
Cause you’re trapped in your comfort zone?

Faith has rewards we all can know
When we stifle our sighs and groans,
When we lay down our life and let it all go,
When we abandon our comfort zone.

Here’s to a couple days of SILENCE and SOLITUDE
(Thank You Winter Weather!)

I am excited to see what this time reveals.  Signing off for now!

Love, Light & Hugs!
